Research Overview
Dermorphin is a frog-derived heptapeptide employed as a tool compound in μ-opioid receptor research. In experimental systems it is used to probe MOR selectivity and potency, downstream Gi/o-coupled GPCR signaling, cAMP inhibition, β-arrestin pathways, and mechanisms underlying nociception and neuroplasticity in vitro and in vivo laboratory models.
Primary Research Areas
-
Opioid receptor pharmacology (MOR): Binding selectivity, efficacy and signaling bias in receptor assays.
-
GPCR signaling & cAMP/β-arrestin pathways: Gi/o-mediated signaling, second-messenger dynamics and receptor internalization.
-
Nociception & sensory neurobiology: Laboratory models of pain pathway modulation and spinal/central processing.
-
Peptide chemistry & stability: Structure-activity relationships for D-Ala–containing opioid peptides.
