In laboratory conditions, tesofensine is mainly studied for:

  • reduced appetite and calorie intake,
  • modulation of dopamine, noradrenergic and serotonergic pathways,
  • increased energy expenditure and activity,
  • improving mood and cognitive functions,
  • research into neurodegenerative disorders.

What is Tesofensine?

Tesofensine is a synthetic substance that inhibits the reuptake of three neurotransmitters: dopamine, noradrenaline, and serotonin. This triple inhibition leads to increased signaling in the central nervous system, resulting in decreased appetite, increased alertness, and increased energy. It was originally studied for neurodegenerative diseases, but later attracted interest in the areas of obesity and metabolic disorders.

How does Tesofensine work?

The mechanism of action is to inhibit the reuptake of neurotransmitters, thereby increasing their availability in the synaptic cleft. This leads to:

  • Dopamine: Increases motivation, reduces compulsive eating.
  • Noradrenaline: Increases alertness, sympathetic activation, and energy expenditure.
  • Serotonin: Mood stabilization, satiety regulation.

Effects studied

  • Body weight loss in the range of 10–12% in 24 weeks in some clinical phases.
  • Reducing appetite and shortening the time between feelings of fullness.
  • Improvement in mood, cognition, and subjective energy.
  • Observed synergy with caffeine and stimulants.

The data comes exclusively from laboratory research. It is not a recommendation for real-world use.
  • Dose: 0.25–1 mg daily
  • Administration form: oral (capsules)
  • Frequency: 1x daily, morning
  • Duration: 4–24 weeks depending on protocol

Possible side effects
